2017-05-21 Puerto Princesa Becomes a Stake!!!!

After many years of great effort by many dedicated and wonderful people, Puerto Princesa became a Stake on Sunday, May 21, 2017.  It was organized by Elder Shayne M. Bowen and Elder Elder Jairus C. Perez.

First picture of the first stake presidency for the new Puerto Princesa Philipppines Stake of Zion.
Elder Perez, Pres. Diosdado Baniago (First Counselor), Pres. Larry A. Caduada (Stake President),  Pres. Juan Cauilan Jr. (Second Counselor), Elder Bowen (Area President).

The building on Malvar Street was packed full.  Some of the elders stood the entire meeting.

Following are pictures of many wonderful members of the newly created stake!

and some of the missionaries who work so hard to help build it into a stake!

                                       The new Bishop Edwards!

Elder and Sister Mortimer returned for the stake creation and mission reunion.  They are still hopeful that they will be able to get medical clearance to return and serve again full time.  Their love for the Filippinos has only grown since they had to go home for medical reasons. It was SO fun to have them back.  We kept kidding that we were going to kidnap them and keep them here!  :)

A delicious Filipino luncheon served by the outgoing Presidency.

  The new Puerto Princesa Airport

Three large airlines now fly to Puerto Princesa.

When we arrived home, we got to meet with Annie and her sister, Daisy from Cabar (Palawan).
They are both sisters with great faith in the Savior Jesus Christ.

Our son, Josh and his friend Matt are visiting to study the possibility of starting a business in the Philippines.
